DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAMME HERE Art Night 2012 is not simply a Stay Up All Night event (Notte Bianca) in Venice, it is also concerts, shows, guided tours, games, readings, dialogues, monologues, workshops and music right across all of Venice’s buildings, narrow streets (calli) and squares (campielli). INSTAMEET As always the event will be inaugurated at 5.00 pm by the Chancellor of the University in the main building of Venice’s Ca’ Foscari University. Following the official opening, an innovative cortège will leave from the University’s water access and make its way along the Grand Canal and the city’s other waterways. InstArtNight is a way of following Art Night on line and this year it also becomes an Instameet, one of the meetings organised by the famous Instagram Community. The entire event will then be recounted on line through the use of the many different images. THIS NIGHT THE VAPORETTO DELL’ARTE (ART WATERBUS) WILL BE FOR EVERYONE Some of the innovations this year that will witness the splendid city on the Lagoon being transformed into an exceptional stage will include: the city’s municipal headquarters becoming one of the physical venues for the event, with the jetty of Palazzo Loredan transformed into a stage for “Elettrofoscari” (university electronic music workshop group) and above all the Vaporetto dell’Arte (Art Waterbus) service available free of charge to anyone wanting to get to the interesting venues. The ACTV vessel will depart from the Rialto Bridge at hourly intervals starting from 8.10 pm until ten minutes past midnight, stopping off at Ca’ Rezzonico, Accademia, Salute, San Marco Vallaresso, finishing up at Zitelle, given that this year's offer from the Isola della Giudecca is truly remarkable. Finally, there will also be a journey that will take-in the book sellers. EVENTS The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (Foundation of the City Museums of Venice) will be extending the opening hours of four of its most prestigious museum sites. In the Palazzo Mocenigo, in addition to the Museum, it will be possible to visit those areas not normally open to the public, with special tours of the vast stocks of rare fabrics and extraordinary clothing collections, the highlight of which has got to be the eighteenth century fashions. The Museo di Storia Naturale (Natural History Museum), so popular with children, will be rendered even more inviting with a state-of-the-art interactive feature. Ca’ Pesaro will be the place to visit the “Klimtian Spirit” exhibition, Galileo Chini, Vittorio Zecchin and the grand decoration of Venice. And on this special occasion the “Lutes in counterpoint”, from the "Benedetto Marcello” Conservatory of Music will enliven and brighten-up the entire building. Finally, a visit to the home of Carlo Goldoni will provide an opportunity to admire the new set up designed to highlight the persona of the great Venetian playwright.
