If you decide to get to Venice by train, you’ll be taken straight into historical centre. Indeed, it is the easiest way to reach the Grand Canal. If you need to stop in Mestre or Marghera, remember to get off at Venezia-Mestre (one stop before Venice). The train is the best solution to go from Venice to Mestre and vice versa as it only takes 10 minutes.
When you get off you can either decide to walk, get a vaporetto (water bus) or a water taxi. If you wish to know the prices of water buses and taxis (only indicative), go to page Water buses fares. The map attached to this guide will help you find more easily your destinations.
