The Avogaria Theater is one of the smallest and most characteristic Venetian theater. Located between Calle Lunga San Barnaba and the Church of San Sebastiano, it was founded by Giovanni Poli in 1969. It is also the seat of the cultural association Teatro a l'Avogaria, whose goal is the maintenance and diffusion of theatrical traditions Venetian and Venetian, in particular the Commedia dell'Arte. Its founder attributed to the didactic activity for the training of young actors, from 1973 to 1998 he managed a theater school with two-year courses. The best students have joined the Stabile Company.Today the Giovanni Poli Theater School has resumed its activity, returning to being a point of reference for training and research in Venice, linked to the culture and the great Venetian theatrical tradition. Every year the `Giovanni Poli´ school offers its students more opportunities for discussion with the public: readings, essays, stage exercises, mises en espace, shows that contribute to the training of the young actor through the practical experience of the stage.
