The Venice Biennale (Biennale di Venezia) is one of the world's most famous cultural institutions. Ever since its foundation, in 1895, it has been earnestly committed to the promotion of new artistic trends and organises international events in all the fields of contemporary art - from movies to theatre and from architecture to dance. It has, for all practical purposes, been a Foundation since 2004. The Venice Biennale is renowned the world over for its International Exhibition of Cinematographic Art, for the International Exhibitions on Art and Architecture, for its Festivals of Music and Theatre as well as the most recent Festival of Dance. The Venice Biennale is also particularly active during the Carnival period thanks to the Children’s Carnival, the event organised to coincide with the Venice Carnival which includes an astonishing programme of workshop activities and events associated with creative activities. These are aimed schools of every type and level and audiences of children, young people, families and adults who will bring the Central Pavilion (Padiglione Centrale) and the adjacent national Pavilions to life. Venice is famous the world over for its International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, which has been staged by the Venice Biennale since 1895. It’s an event that every year attracts thousands of artists from all over the world. No less successful is the International Architecture Exhibition, a sector of the Biennale that was created in recent years (at the end of the 1970s) thanks to the dedication of Aldo Rossi and Giuseppe Galasso. In addition to the international events staged annually or biannually, it is also involved in permanent activities thanks to its new headquarters in Ca’ Giusti where exhibitions and meetings are stages and the ASAC (Historical Archives of Contempary Arts) Library in the Gardens (Giardini), suitable for study, consultation, meetings and workshops.
